Effective leadership is central to delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate care across the NHS. Launched in January 2026, the SWITA Multi-Professional Leadership programme for the diagnostic and radiography workforce has been designed to help colleagues build the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to lead with confidence, compassion and accountability.
Grounded in the NHS Leadership Model and the NHS Leadership Way, the programme aims to empower healthcare professionals to:
- Drive positive change across services
- Support and inspire colleagues
- Deliver better outcomes for patients and communities
Through keynote lectures, interactive workshops and reflective practice, participants will explore leadership and management within the unique context of healthcare. The focus is on developing leaders who can manage complexity, champion improvement and foster a culture of learning and inclusion.

By investing in leadership capability, this programme directly supports the NHS commitment to improving patient care, enhancing staff wellbeing and building a sustainable, skilled workforce for the future.
Participants will take part in six in-person study days, alongside self-directed learning and monthly mentorship with senior leaders from across the diagnostics and radiography community. The mentoring element provides a structured yet personalised opportunity to explore real-world leadership challenges, gain feedback and strengthen confidence in decision-making.
